May the wind be with you
News of 05-11-2006
Wind energy is good news for western Canadian farmers according to landowners who host these anorexic turbine towers, which over the past few years have spiked across the rolling foothill and grassland landscape in gradually increasing numbers.
No one is making buckets of money by renting or leasing land to energy companies who erect these 200' towers with 250'-wide rotor blades that gracefully sweep over open fields and ridge tops to capture the power of prevailing winds. But on the other hand, the library-quiet turbines are of little or no inconvenience either. Once erected, they use up very little ground space and you can grow crops or pasture cattle right up to and around the tower bases.
